You have been invited to participate in the seminar ‘Communitarian Weavings and Political Forms,’ hosted by the Latin American Studies center at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). The seminar, organized by Raquel Gutiérrez Aguilar, Lucia Linsalata, Mina Lorena Navarro Trujillo, invites participants to share examples of “Producing the Common and Reproducing Life” that expand on the theory outlined in their book chapter by the same name. For your participation in the seminar, write a short presentation that describes specific examples from the 1999 documentary Zapatista! and discusses how those examples represent “modern possibilities of social transformation through the erosion, dissolution, rupture and/or overcoming of the relation of capital” p. 89, using key concepts from their chapter.
To receive full points, your response must introduce and define at least two key concepts from the assigned reading and discuss how they are related to specific example(s) from the assigned media. You are welcome to include additional examples from recommended materials or outside examples of your own, but should include a discussion of at least one scene from the 1999 documentary Zapatista! as part of your response.
