This first milestone is a proposal of a theme and artform that you are interested in pursuing the final paper. You will be working with the same theme and piece of art in each milestone and the final paper. Throughout the course, you will be completing milestones towards the final paper. These milestones will build upon your theme and art form through research and analysis of the art piece that you will be writing about for the final.
The final paper for this course asks you to research and explore the significance of your theme or topic in a single piece from your art form by first critiquing the compositions of art and then writing about the function and significance of the theme and piece in our society.
In your paper, you will propose your theme and art form by answering the following questions:
What theme or themes from the attached list are you choosing to explore and why?
With this theme in mind which art form (Pictures, Sculptures, Music, Dance, Literature, Theater, Film, Animation, or Video Games) are you the most interested in finding a piece in?
Do you already have a specific piece in mind, or are you going to explore the art field for a piece on your theme?
What are you hoping to find in your research and critique of the theme in your art form?
Guidelines for Submission: Students are required to turn in a 1-2 page paper in either .docx or .pdf format of the theme and art form by the due date indicated in the syllabus and course calendar. The paper must include:
At least three paragraphs (introduction, body, and conclusion) stating your proposed topic and art forms. If considering more than one theme or topic, it is okay to list them all of them. Use the questions above as a guide for your proposal essay. (I recommend answering each question to make sure your topic will cover all required elements).
Take into consideration material such as course material from what we have covered this far and cite properly per MLA or APA format if using direct or indirect citations.
Utilize course concepts and terminology in the proposal.
Proper writing mechanics.
