In the class, I observed a young girl’s students. She was the first student to walk in, and she did well putting her jacket away and washing hands with little encouragement from ms. Becky and ms dawn. Then the speech pathologist worked with her on the ST sound and showed pictures and asked what that was, and said stacks of pancakes with strawberries. It went well at first after about three minutes; she got frustrated with the word stripes and stew, so the teacher went and broke it down into sections and brought it together, which helped her out better. After the speech, the teacher was finished with her. She colored snowman pictures. Then at 9:15, they did the cleanup, and she followed me to the playdough center and helped me clean up, and I said thank you, and she was thrilled. Then it was circle time, and they sang willow wallabee, the cow jump over the moon then they used at the beginning of their name to figure out what friend’s name it was then. Since it was too cold, they played an obstacles course to get energy out and help with motto skills. The little girl I’m observing had difficulty with the balance boards, and it helped that Ms. Becky helped her hand a little in the beginning and then let go, and she did it all by herself. Then she came into the classroom and washed her hands after being told by ms dawn, and she ate her snack but was told many times to sit down while eating. Unfortunately, she was told to put her snack away because she didn’t sit down. After that, she struggled to hold the dry erase marker to write her name, but Ms. Becky said one hand and wrote her name to trace it. Then underneath writing her name, it went well, and with lots of encouragement, she did it. After that she drew matman and follow the song ms. Becky sang. after ms dawn said that a librarian was coming to bring in new books about the surprise, the librarian read an oops and lemon are not red. They sang the color song, so when she says a color they are wearing, they stand. the little girl I’m observing today was listening well and had no difficulty knowing her color..
the afternoon class starts assessments for parent-teacher conferences, passes out whiteboards and has to write their name without looking at their name tags, then has to draw the best matman so ms dawn can take a picture to show progress for parents to know their child stands in assessment before the end of year. After that they went center and observed. I observed a little boy at 5 years old and he is doing additional and subtraction and have very little difficulty and taking his time coloring inside the lines with one color at a time he speaks in completed sentences and uses all his friends names when talking to them and also using the teachers name when talking. He is using manners and asking to share with all his friends without the encouragement of the teacher. He try’s to involve anoth of his friends that has difficulty expressing his emotions. He does try to involve girl that are friends and uses his logic when he started to have difficulty lifting a bunch of blocks at once and put them all down and carry the blocks one at a time. Then he was able to started building his tower by looking at a picture it was not like pictures but he was proud of it and then a friend knocked it down he got mad but was able to get encouragement from ms. Dawn. They started to rebuild until ms. Dawn said one minute til clean up. Stil was building when ms. Dawn. He stop building and started to clean up with his friends helping him. He finished cleaning and went straight to circle with his name on it. They did yoga for song time and he listened to all the instructions that ms dawn gave theme they went outside and he played with all his friends
