After reading the Stone et al. material for this week, think about a recent conflict in which you were either a) a party to the conflict or b) very familiar with the positions/opinions/feelings of both parties and create a 275-300-word discussion board post that includes the following:
The stories from the perspectives of each of the parties – If you were one of the parties, you will present your story and that from the perspective of the other person. If you were not directly involved, you will write the stories from the perspectives of each of the parties in the conflict. Label these Story A and Story B so that we can easily distinguish between the two. Both of these stories should be written in first person as though they were telling their story themselves.
A third story (Stone et al., 2010) – This should be a retelling of what happened presented from a neutral, non-judgmental perspective. The third story is not one of the parties telling the story in a more neutral way. It not about how you might help the parties see a different perspective. It is the story from the perspective of a neutral bystander telling it without bias, judgment, harsh or judgmental language, etc., and should show that you understand what a third story should be. Label this The Third Story. Due Thursday at 11:59pm.
Respond to two of your classmates’ posts with probing questions, a different option for the third story, comparison to your own example, etc. Due Friday at 11:59pm.
Reply to responses made on your initial post by your classmates. Due Saturday at 11:59pm.
Required Readings:
